Safety is Always First! Whether you're aware of it or not, using computer daily, browsing the web, opening files, watching movies, all your movements, will leave traces behind that can easily harm your privacy. You can not neglect the fact that you may be exposed and that you need all the protection you can get. Thankfully there are lots of programs out there that can help you keep your privacy intact.

Privacy Killer is a simple yet efficient cleaner that securely removes all usage tracks from your computer, leaving no possibility of tracking whatsoever. It clears specific Windows areas (such as Clipboard, Windows file fragments, Recent Documents list, Start Menu and Search History, temporary folder, log files, memory dumps, wordpad history list etc.) , IE/AOL, Firefox, Netscape, Gchrome and Opera browsers (URL address history, temporary internet files, cookies, auto-complete forms, index.dat files, cache, download history, etc. ) and any other tracks left behind. Another thing is that support for some important browsers which are definitely more in use of Netscape, is still missing. Support for Safari and Maxthon should be included.

Privacy Killer can also wipe all toolbars search history and contains several tools designed to keep every aspect of your system in top shape. As for the tools section, it includes Cookie Manager, File shredder, Registry Manager, StartUp Manager, Task Manager, Uninstall Manager, Privacy Locker and PlugIn Manager. Cookie Manager is a handy tool that can help you preserve IE/Firefox cookies you need and remove the useless ones from your system. When you choose cookies you want to keep, all but them will be deleted during cleaning session.

Another tool included in Privacy Killer is File shredder, tool with support for the standard DoD 5220.22 algorithms that makes deleted tracks unrecoverable. You can choose Simple Overwrite, Peter Gutmann algorithm and DoDD 5220.00 US military standard to replace deleted files. As developers claim Privacy Killer uses these highly sophisticated algorithms leaving no possibility of restoration whatsoever.

Registry section is very versatile, it can scan Application Paths, ActiveX/COM components, Empty software keys, Font Entries, Help files, Installers, Invalid Icons, Missing Shared Dlls, MUI Cache, Start Menu Ordering, Unused File Extensions and Uninstall Problems. This list is very impressive, Privacy Killer is very fast and totally efficient in finding registry problems. During our tests we have deliberately imposed Photoshop CS4 loading to see how will Privacy Killer stand the pressure. It handled it very well and this is by all means, single handedly, one of the fastest tools we have tested so far. We advise you to create safe backup every time before scanning to prevent losing any important stuff from the registry.

It also contains Startup Manager, Task Manager and Uninstall Manager which are the same as windows default msconfig/default windows Task/Add/Remove panel and nothing more. Only advantage of Startup Manager is that you do not have to run msconfig configuration wizard and that will help amateur users to easily set startup options. We didn't find any of these tools to be any faster or more advanced then default windows tools.

In order to keep your computer protected from anyone else, Privacy Killer has tool named Privacy Locker which is some sort of screensaver protected by user-defined password. We found this screensaver almost impossible to overpass, however simple restart will do a trick. All of the most important functions of this application can be accessed via user defined hotkeys and an automatic software update is also available so you no longer have to check for new versions.

The program also supports scheduled cleans, which enables you to get rid of sensitive data automatically according to a certain period of time. Yes, Privacy Killer is prepared to thoroughly clean your privacy data, it is amazingly fast and comprehensive, however it is totally confusing and hard to adopt to. It definitely lacks organization, you will need some time to get used to it and every aspect of the software, especially the main screen is confusing, totally unprepared for novice users.

As for the looks, we do not know where to start. Do not want to denigrate anyone's work, however main screen's "space look" is totally inappropriate for such a tool. It is at best confusing and in combination with some dark theme(you can choose several themes) it makes this tool unpleasant to work with, and from our experience, first thing users want is friendly environment, comfort, take that away from them and they will certainly not use such application.

All in all, this is a very good, reliable tool, it does the job easily and its speed is just amazing. On the other hand it maybe needs some adjustments ,and it is definitely unsuitable for all users. Nevertheless, if you put on side whole organization/design issue, we still think this is great tool with a lot of potential, maybe not the best, but serious competitor to all great tools out there.
